New Year’s Eve for me is a lot like Halloween. There’s so much hype and expectation culturally, but it usually ends up being rather dull or even disappointing. Last year I decided to keep it low key and went out for an amazing dinner with a girl friend, followed by a couple of drinks and then home. It turned out lovely. This year, I am having a few people over to my place for a dinner party, which I’m sure will be followed by a couple of drinks out and then home. I’m so excited about the menu, especially the cheese course we are having for the appetizer. There will also be smoked salmon, prime rib, mashed potatoes and asparagus. And of course all the wine (mulled and regular) and “champagne” we can drink.
To top it off, this is giving me the motivation to finally get the last of the boxes (from my move 6 months ago) put away. Maybe if I plan another party in a few months, I’ll actually get pictures hung in the living room, too. A girl can dream …
